THE MOTHER of actress Pataratida Patcharawirapong, or Tangmo Nida, who drowned in Chao Phraya river during a speedboat trip in February this year, was given 400,000 baht in cash plus two cashier’s cheques totaling 1.6 million baht and a contract to pay her a salary of 30,000 baht a month for 20 years as compensation for her death today (Sept. 21), Matichon newspaper said.
At a hearing in Nonthaburi court that lasted five hours, a settlement was reached with Mrs. Panida Siriyuttayothin, Tangmo Nida’s mother, having agreed to withdraw being the joint plaintiff in both the civil and criminal cases against the six suspects.
The six suspects are Mr. Tanupat Lerttaweewit, or Hi So Por, the speedboat owner; Mr. Paiboon Srikanchananan, or Robert or Bird, the amateur skipper; Ms. Wisapat Manomairat, or Sand; Ms. Idsarin Juthasuksawat, or Gatick, her manager; Mr. Nithat Keeratisuthisathorn, or Job; and Mr. M. Phim Thamtheerasri, their consultant,
Total payment of 30,000 baht a month for 20 years adds up to 7.2 million baht and together with the cash and cashier’s cheques and a pair of pearl earrings that Wisapat gave her it amounts to almost 10 million baht.
Mr. Pornsak Wipasaraphanon, Wisapat’s lawyer, said the compromise agreement on the compensation is confidential and is for Panida to reveal the details. However she has agreed to withdraw as joint plaintiff in both civil and criminal cases.
The next hearing of this case that rivetted the country is scheduled to take place at 9 a.m. on December 22.
