CHONBURI police chief ordered the hunt for “Sia Yot”, the father of “Sia B” who is the owner of Mountain B pub that caught fire on August 5 killing 19 people so far, after an arrest warrant was issued for him on the charges of negligence and jointly setting up the facility without a permit as investigation reveal he is the real owner but used his son’s name to operate the business, Naewna newspaper said this evening (August 15).
The inferno at Mountain B entertainment venue in Sattahip district of Chonburi province killed 13 on the spot with six others later dying in the hospital. Over 30 victims are still under medical treatment with eight requiring ventilators.
At 4 p.m. today the Pattaya Provincial Court issued an arrest warrant for Mr. Somyot Panprasong, 55, or Sia Yot, the father of Mr. Pongsiri Panprasong, or Sia B, on the charges of negligence leading to the death and serious injury of others and setting up the pub without a permit.
Police investigation revealed that Sia Yot had left Chonburi and travelled to other provinces.
Sia Yot is a well known businessman in Sattahip owning the largest slaughterhouse in the district as well as pork stalls in many wet markets.
Witnesses had told police that Sia Yot was connected to the pub, especially where financing was concerned, and used his son’s name to operate the business.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Atthasit Kitchahan, commander of the Chonburi provincial police, had ordered police detectives to track down Sia Yot and coordinate with his relatives to persuade him to surrender.
