TWO Bangkok policemen, one attached to Phaya Thai station and the other Phahonyothin, committed sucide over the past 24 hours with their motive for their doing so not yet known, Sanook.com said today (Jan. 4).
At 4.30 p.m. yesterday Pol. Cpl. Sirisak, head of the traffic unit at Phaya Thai station, was found to have shot himself in the right temple with a Glock pistol and was rushed to Ramathibodi Hospital where he later died.
He had gone to work as usual and upon returning to his flat went to the bedroom with his wife and child watching TV nearby. Then the gunshot rang out.
Police initially assume that his suicide stemmed from a personal matter but are not ruling out other possible issues with his relatives and others involved being questioned to determine the true motive.
At 11 a.m. today Pol.Cpl. Sirisak’s father Mr. Ad came to collect his son’s body for funeral rites. He said he rarely saw his son because he had separated from his mother when he was young and she raised him.
Ad added that when he last saw him a year ago his son apologised for not having taken care of him.
Another policeman committed suicide today with this being Pol.Sgt. Apiwat, 28, who fatally shot himself at his second-floor flat in Chatuchak district. A Glock pistol was found by his side.
Pol. Sgt. Pattanapong Chukham, from the counter-terrorism unit, said the deceased was a friend of his and as he lived alone he knocked on his door while heading to work. However, as there was no response, he removed a glass pane and opened the door whereupon found him dead.
He then notified Phaholyothin police station and related agencies to investigate while adding that he did not have any details about the motive of his suicide.
