THE widely-followed website Panda Lab Doctor said today (Nov. 18) that some of the 12,000 schools that reopened on the first of this month have started to close as Covid-19 has begun to spread among students, Matichon newspaper reported.
Mr. Pakphum Dejhassadin, a medical technologist who runs the popular Panda Lab Doctor website, said in a post shared on Facebook that “Many schools have begun to close because of Covid infection.”
He mentioned two schools that have already shut down, with one being Suwannaram Wittayakom School in Bangkok and the other Boon Wattana School in Nakhon Ratchasima.
Lots of netizens commented on this issue and among them was actress/model Diana Chungjingtanakarn, co-founder of the webpage We Must Survive that helps people infected with coronavirus, who said, “The children have started to come…”
Other netizens also mentioned that schools were starting to close in many areas including Mueang and Warin Chamrap districts in Ubon Ratchathani province and in Lamphun province.
Meanwhile the Public Health Ministry said this morning there were 6,901 Covid cases and 55 deaths over the past 24 hours taking the cumulative confirmed total since April 1 to 2,015,262, Siam Rath newspaper said.
Of the new batch of cases 6,757 were among the general public and 144 in prisons and detention centres.
Another 7,556 patients were cured while today’s 55 fatalities raised the death toll since April to 20,160.
