Daily Covid death count nears hundred

THAILAND recorded its highest single-day coronavirus fatalities at 98 this morning (July 15), with there also being 9,186 new cases, Siam Rath newspaper said.

This takes the cumulative confirmed total since the start of the pandemic to 372,215 and the current wave that began in April 343,352.

Today’s fatalities raised the death toll since last year to 3,032 and in the current wave 2,938.

Of the new batch of cases 9,107 emerged among the general public and 79 in prisons and detention centres with another 5,543 patients having recovered.

Meanwhile Mr. Paisan Phuetmongkol, a former vice-minister to Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan, posted a message on his Facebook page urging Dr. Boon Vanasin, chairman of the Thonburi Healthcare Group Plc to reveal who secretly imported the Pfizer vaccine.

In his message he said, “Doctor Boon should reveal the truth.

“For the benefit of the nation and the people, (reveal) who of high authority or senior doctors are secretly importing Pfizer vaccine to inject!

“This shows there is illegal action. Privileges are being used. There is misconduct.”
