Covid count still high at 965, 26 more policemen infected

 

THE Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said late this morning (April 13) that there were 965 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours while 26 more policemen have caught the infection, TV Channel 7 said.

This new batch of cases takes the cumulative confirmed total to 34,575 with 40 more patients having been cured, adding up to 28,288 who have been discharged from hospital. There were 6,190 patients remaining under treatment while no more fatality was reported with the toll staying stationary at 97.

Of today’s total of 965 new cases, 956 were infected within the country, with the majority connected to entertainment clusters and most cropping up in Chiang Mai and Bangkok. 

Nine overseas arrivals were quarantined.

Meanwhile Royal Thai Police deputy spokesperson Lt. Col. Yingsirikul Kritpittayaboon revealed this morning that 26 more policemen had got infected with Covid-19 with this raising the cumulative total of those who have done so during March 13, 2020 to April 12, 2021 at 8:18 p.m. to 231 cases.

Altogether 78 policemen have recovered while 153 are still undergoing treatment, with 58 admitted to Police Hospital while 95 have gone to other hospitals.

As for policemen at risk of exposure to this infection, altogether 5,259 had been quarantined with 3,925 having been released while 1,334 are still under observation.
