Pathum Thani market Covid cluster spreads to 10 provinces

THE Public Health Ministry’s Disease Control Department said this afternoon (Feb. 18) that a cluster of coronavirus infection at Pornpat market in adjacent Pathum Thani province spread to 10 provinces during Feb. 9-16 with the number of cases jumping to 359, Siam Rath newspaper.

Of the 359 cases, 332 are in Pathum Thani but the disease spreading out from this hotspot has reached Bangkok and other neighbouring provinces as well as some Central and Northeastern region provinces.

A breakdown of the current total cases in this spreading Covid cluster is as follows:

* Pathum Thani, 332;

* Nakhon Nayok, 7;

* Bangkok, 4;

* Phetchaburi, 4;

* Samut Prakan, 3;

* Saraburi, 3;

* Ayutthaya, 2;

* Angthong, 2;

* Nakhon Ratchasima, 1;

* Nonthaburi, 1.

This cluster started growing after a 31-year-old Myanmar woman who sold vegetables at this market fell sick on Jan. 31, losing her sense of smell and taste. She went in for a test on Feb. 6 and was confirmed to be infected on the next day, Feb. 7
