THE Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration today (Jan. 20) announced that the daily coronavirus total has dropped to 59 cases but there is an additional fatality taking the toll to 71, Thai Rath newspaper reported.
Dr. Apisamai Srirangsan, CCSA’s assistant spokesperson, said the patient who died is a 48-year-old woman who worked as a driver shuttling Myanmar people in Mae Sot district of Tak province.
Of today’s 59 cases 51 were domestic infections, with 28 found through surveillance and service systems and 33 through proactive screening in communities, while eight overseas travellers have been quarantined.
An additional 265 patients have been discharged from hospital taking the total to 9,621 while 2,961 are still undergoing treatment.
Cumulative confirmed cases now stand at 12,653 with the infection having spread to 62 provinces and the latest being Nakhon Phanom.
