OVER the 24 hours to this morning (July 6) Thailand logged 5,420 new coronavirus cases and another 57 fatalities taking the overall death toll to 2,333, Amarin TV said.
According to the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) the cumulative confirmed total since the start of the pandemic has now reached 294,653 and in the ongoing wave that began in April 265,790.
Of the new batch of cases 4,070 emerged in surveillance and health systems, 1,305 through proactive searches, 37 fell sick in prisons and detention centres while eight overseas arrivals were quarantined.
Another 3,586 patients were cured, with total recoveries since the start of the pandemic reaching 227,023 and in the current wave 199,597. Altogether 65,297 patients are still undergoing treatment with 2,350 in severe condition and 643 requiring ventilators.
An update of the vaccination drive in the country is as follows:
From February 28 to July 5 this year 11,058,390 doses of vaccine had been administered.
Another 217,375 people got their first jab, adding up to 8,022,029 who have done so;
An additional 63,267 people got their second jab, with 3,036,361 having done so.
