A YOUNG MAN has been arrested in Phetachabun province for taking drugs and severely beating his mother after she refused to give him money to buy cigarettes and alcohol, Sanook.com reported this morning (August 22, 2020).
Deputy police spokesman Pol. Col. Krisana Pattanacharoen said a disturbing video clip of this severe beating had been shared online by a Facebook user and had upset a lot of people.
In this video clip the 26-year-old son of a 42-year-old woman could be seen shouting, cursing, hitting, kicking and punching his mother and when she fell down, stomping her. She had to run out and get help from her neighbours.
Pol. Col. Krisana added that the mother came to Bueng Sam Phan police station of this north-central province at 8 a.m. yesterday to file a complaint against her son and told investigators that her son had also threatened to kill her having held a kitchen knife at her throat.
Police took the woman to a doctor for medical treatment and then after inspecting the scene of the beating took the son in for a drug test which revealed that he had taken methamphetamine.
He has been charged with taking category one drug, causing physical and mental harm to his parent, driving while drugged and without a licence.
Police this morning took him to Wichian Buri Provincial Court to ask for further detention while having also contacted the Social Development and Human Security Office in this province to help heal the rift in the family.
