Tot in coma after being left in school van for 6 hours

A TWO-YEAR-OLD boy who was left in a school van from 7.30 a.m. in the morning till 1.30 p.m. on Tuesday (August 11) in Phipun district of Nakhon Si Thammarat province is now lying in coma at the intensive care unit of Maharaj Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital, Sanook.com reported this afternoon (August 14, 2020).

The family of Thanakit, or Nong Kong Bin, are in tears as they watch over him at the hospital. He is unconscious, his liver and kidneys have stopped working and his brain is swollen. While doctors and nurses are closely monitoring his condition all 24 hours, they did tell his family to be prepared for the worst from the very first day.

Nong Kong Bin’s mother Mrs. Suwaphat, 26, said that morning she got him to board the child development centre van in front of the house as she regularly does. However she had a premonition that something could go wrong because he usually sits in front but that day the van teacher told him to sit at the back.

It was afternoon when the teacher sent her a photo of the class room that she realized her small son was not there. She called the teacher but was told he did not come to the centre that day.

She rushed to the centre and upon arrival was told that Nong Kong Bin had been sent to the hospital in severe condition.

The little lad’s father, Mr. Thawatchai, has reported the case to Phipun police station. However the teacher involved, the acting head of this child development centre Mrs. Sunisa, has given the family money to take care of him right from the start.

Police said they could only proceed with investigating all those involved, the van driver, van teacher and other teachers,  should Nong Kong Bin’s family files a complaint again.

The scope of the case would be negligence causing seriously harm to others.
