BHUMJAITHAI MP Suchada Zhang Tansap and her relatively little-known spouse Taiyang Zhang are being summoned to testify before the House Committee on Law, Justice & Human Rights on the upcoming Wednesday (Oct. 7) under suspicions that the government lawmaker’s husband may have been involved in a transnational criminal network in relation to cryptocurrency industry.
House Committee on Law, Justice & Human Rights Chair/People’s MP Rangsiman Rome confirmed today (Oct.2) the first-time Bhumjaithai lawmaker of Chaiyapum and her spouse, namely Taiyang Zhang, are being formally invited for testimony before his panel on Oct.7 over allegations that he may have been suspected of involvement in the money-laundering scam perpetrated over the last several years.
Suchada’s spouse, an Australian national of Chinese descent reported by Thai authorities to have 1.9 billion baht in assets, was known as serial entrepreneur in crypto industry who had reportedly loaned 1.44 billion baht to the Singaporean-based Three Arrows Capital, a crypto hedge fund firm which was declared bankrupt by a British Virgin Islands court in 2022.
Rangsiman was apparently responding to yesterday’s (Oct.1) event in which he was literally ordered by the Bhumjaithai-attached Deputy House Speaker Mallika Jirapanwanich to immediately leave the chamber of the House of Representatives after he had accused Suchada’s spouse of being a suspect among others in the transnational money-laundering scam racket and ultimately refused to withdraw his word, prompting the Bhumjaithai lawmaker to contemplate filing a libel lawsuit against him in court.
The People’s MP said representatives of varied government agencies such as the Anti-Money Laundering Office and Department of Special Investigation as well as the National Anti-Corruption Commission are being suggested to attend the House committee’s meeting on the mysterious issue at parliament on the upcoming Wednesday.
