AN INSURGENT was killed in an intense clash on Tawe mountain in Far South Narathiwat province today (Sep. 9) with all troops remaining safe, TV Channel 7 and Naewna newspaper said.
The Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) Region 4 Forward Command, through Narathiwat Joint Special Operations Unit, conducted a law enforcement operation to track down a group of insurgents on Tawe mountain in Chuap subdistrict, Cho-airong district.
During the operation, some insurgents fired upon the soldiers with firearms of unknown type and calibre, prompting a return of fire. Preliminary checks showed that one insurgent was killed, while all security personnel are safe.
Authorities are currently verifying details, conducting further inspections of this area, and continuously assessing the situation while proceeding with relevant protocols.
Security measures have been tightened and operational vigilance heightened. The public is urged to avoid the vicinity of the incident and closely follow official announcements to ensure their safety.
