OFFICIALS OF the Department of Special Investigation were today (May 29) encouraged to show up at parliament upon the end of its current legislative period in July to literally pick up the notorious Klatham MP Chonnapat Naksua for questioning over his alleged involvement in online gambling and money-laundering scams for fear that he could possibly otherwise escape.
People’s MP Rangsiman Rome suggested that the DSI officials pay a visit to parliament on July 10, one day before the current legislative session is scheduled to end, to literally detain Chonnapat after a subpoena has already been issued by the DSI for the notorious MP to formally accept the criminal charges filed against him and be interrogated by the agency in relation to online gambling and money-laundering activities mostly reported in the southern region.
Rangsiman made his comment shortly after the House of Representatives today voted 308:126 to grant the opposition lawmaker the legal immunity to arrest and detainment by the authorities during legislative periods in spite of the DSI subpoena issued for him pertaining to the scandalous cases which had emerged even before he was re-elected as Klatham MP representing a southern constituency of Songkhla in a general election earlier this year.
Besides, the People’s MP called on immigration officials at all border crossing checkpoints to see to it that Chonnapat will not manage to flee the country via a natural border path anywhere.
