PHUKET Immigration police are expediting deportation of a foreign couple after they were filmed engaging in sexual activity on a tuk-tuk in Patong area with this triggering widespread criticism on social media, Amarin TV said tonight (May 5).
This action was taken against the couple, identified as Mr. Ruben (surname withheld), 42, a Spanish national, and Ms. Cynthia, 43, a Peruvian national, under an order issued by Pol. Lt. Gen. Panumas Boonyalak, commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, with his team liaising with Patong police station in investigating the incident.
The couple was filmed committing the indecent act at approximately 5 a.m. on Sunday (May 3) with the woman performing oral sex on the man on the tuk-tuk parked in a public area of Patong subdistrict, Kathu district, police said.
However, Facebook user Chaeyun Phuket who shared the video said it shows them in the sex act on the moving tuk-tuk.
The police team apprehended the couple for questioning at 8.30 p.m. on Monday night and upon being shown photographic evidence they admitted to being the persons in the images. They were charged with “jointly committing an act that is likely to cause public embarrassment by exposing or revealing their bodies,or committing other indecent acts” with the legal proceedings having been completed.
However, because their conduct damaged Thailand’s tourism image and public morality, Phuket Immigration police immediately moved to deport them and is compiling information to place them on a blacklist.
Phuket Immigration police emphasised that they will strictly enforce measures against tourists whose behaviour affects public order and the image of Phuket, a major tourist destination of the country. They also urged tourists visiting Phuket to respect Thailand’s laws, regulations, and good cultural values.
