THE row between the chairman of Miss Universe pageant organising committee Mr. Nawat Itsaragrisil and Miss Universe 2025 Fatima Bosch Fernandez from Mexico escalated today (Dec. 3) with the former revealing he has filed a defamation complaint against the latter, Amarin TV said.
The altercation arose during the pageant’s training camp when Nawat questioned Famita for failing to post promotional content. She and a few other contestants walked out after she objected to him calling her “dumbhead” while he insisted he used the word “damage”.
Miss Universe Thailand webpage posted an image of a police complaint against Fatima which Nawat had asked a representative to file on his behalf.
Along with this image, the following statement was issued:
“Miss Grand International Plc and Mr. Nawat Itsaragrisil, chairman of the Host Committee for the 74th Miss Universe, would like to officially announce that, following media reports regarding the situation between Mr. Nawat Itsaragrisil and Ms. Fatima Bosch Fernandez on November 4, 2025.
“We would like to reiterate that Mr. Nawat Itsaragrisil never called Ms. Fatima Bosch Fernandez “dumbhead.” The word he used was “damaged,” as evidenced by the audio clip that has been widely circulated.
“[The phrase “If you follow the order from your national director, you’re damaged. If you don’t, you can do it. I’m very happy and the good report will go to organise…”]
“After Ms. Fatima Bosch Fernandez left the room, she publicly slandered him in front of the media. Later, after learning the truth, she did not apologise to Mr. Nawat Itsaragrisil, but continued to slander him in various interviews to gain benefit from the matter. This legitimised her participation in the pageant, ultimately leading to her becoming Miss Universe. As everyone knows, it appears that even after winning the title, she continued to give false interviews about the incident, slandering Mr. Nawat Itsaragrisil on various media channels.
“Mr. Nawat Itsaragrisil filed a complaint in Thailand against Ms. Fatima Bosch Fernandez on November 12, 2025. If any further misconduct is discovered, he will report the matter and pursue legal action to the fullest extent of the law.”
