Villagers quickly evacuated after heavy weapons fired

VILLAGERS living along the Thai-Cambodian border at Sa Kaeo province were urgently evacuated this evening (Nov. 12) after sounds of heavy weapons were heard, Amarin TV said.

At around 7.15 p.m. the headman of Ban Nong Ya Kaew village at Khok Sung district notified the villagers via Line messaging app and also announced over the loudspeaker to move to the shelters as quickly as possible.

The atmosphere was tense with villagers taking small children and the elderly along with their clothes and essential supplies to safety.

One of the villagers who fled his home told this television channel’s news team that as soon as the village headman told them to move out he quickly collected his belongings and clothes which he had packed from the previous round of fighting and rushed to the shelter.

He added that he is not sure if this incident is worrying or not but is concerned that it may prolong.
