AS HAD been predicted Bhumjaithai Party scored a resounding victory in the by-election for MP at Kanchanaburi constituency four today (Oct. 19) with the only other contestant in the race from Pheu Thai Party trailing behind, Thai Rath newspaper said.

At 8.40 p.m. the Provincial Election Commission Office said complete unofficial results from all 254 polling stations showed that Bhumjaithai candidate Ms. Wisuda Wichiansilp got 52,807 votes, over 16,000 more than Pheu Thai contestant Gen. Chinwat Maendej’s total of 35,964 votes.

Election Commission Secretary-General Sawaeng Boonmee said despite the intense competition campaigning remained within the legal framework with no complaints being filed.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and anthropology from Thammasat University with second-class honours and a master’s degree in politics from Lancaster University, UK. She served as a policy and planning analyst at the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, from February 2021 till September 2025.
