CAMBODIAN civilians who have been dismantling a barbed wire fence along the border this evening (Sep. 19)) stole solar-powered CCTV cameras affixed on a pole at the border and even took the pole back to their territory, Amarin TV said.
Just this morning it was announced that Thailand has installed the first electronic surveillance pole at Ban Klong Luek checkpoint in Aranyaprathet, Sa Kaeo province, as part of a “virtual wall” being set up on parts of the border.
This first E-pole is equipped with three cameras: one PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) and two fixed. Additionally, lighting and solar cell systems have been installed to support continuous operation. A 512GB data storage card, capable of recording images for up to 30 days, is also in place.
The Cambodian thieves are part of a large group encamped on the border as “human shields” at Ban Nong Ya Kaeo, Khok Sung subdistrict, Khok Sung district, Sa Kaeo, and have been destroying the barbed wire fence within Thai sovereign territory.
The Army Military Force Facebook page posted a photo of Cambodian thieves carrying the pole on which the CCTV cameras are attached back to their territory.
The accompanying message says, “Urgent! A group of Cambodian thieves stole solar-powered CCTV cameras. This time they are carrying the entire pole!! They are always stealing barbed wire to sell, the other day they dragged it away right in front of our eyes. What thieves!”
