PANIC-STRICKEN shoppers fled for safety after two groups of vocational students armed with pistols and knives clashed in the middle of a popular shopping mall in Pathumwan district last evening (March 22), Amarin TV said.
At 7.30 p.m. Pathumwan police station was alerted of youths fighting in this shopping mall with patrol officers quickly sent there.
Upon arrival they saw that vocational students from two institutions who often fight each other had again clashed with several of them injured and they were quickly taken to Police Hospital.
Meanwhile Drama-Addict webpage quoted a follower as saying his group saw around 20 vocational students chasing each other within the shopping mall so they quickly left.
Outside they saw two to three students knocking on car doors pleading to get a lift but no one dared to let them into their vehicle.
At the same time many people who did not know what was going on were still going into the mall and their group warned as many as they could to not do so as yet.
Later Pol. Col.Sirichat Chanphromma, superintendent of Pathumwan police station, said his team managed to arrest four of the perpetrators from both sides and they were being questioned. It is still being considered what legal action to take against them while ascertaining whether they are juveniles.
Approximately five students were injured, two with knife wounds with one in serious condition. The other three were attacked without weapons and all are undergoing treatment at Police Hospital.
Initially no members of the public were injured in this clash.
