Blue Tree Phuket to close its lagoon soon

POPULAR entertainment hub and waterpark Blue Tree Phuket announced on Facebook that it has had to adjust its business operation and shut down the lagoon, which is its main facility, from August 1, 2024 after operating for five years, Sanook.com said today (June 23).

While other services will continue, the closure of the lagoon will lead to over 70% of the employees being laid off.

In its announcement, the management said, “Blue Tree Phuket today announced a significant alignment of its business operations, including the difficult decision to close Blue Tree Lagoon, effective August 1, 2024.

“This step follows a thorough evaluation of our operational model and an unwavering commitment to meet evolving guest preferences.

“Despite our deep-rooted commitment to Phuket and substantial investment made since our opening in 2019, the economic repercussions of the pandemic, coupled with shifting consumer demands, have necessitated this pivotal change in direction. As part of this restructuring we will be parting ways with over 70% of our current team.”

While the lagoon is closing down the rest of Blue Tree Phuket complex remains open and it is now adapting its operational model to focus on a well-being centric concept with the aim of enhancing holistic health, relaxation and social connection of its guests.

Its Lifestyle Village, which has a variety of shopping, dining and fun activities, will be unveiling enhanced offerings.
