THE BODY of a young, naked foreign man was found on Pattaya beach at noon today (June 2) with police working on identifying him while an autopsy is being performed to determine the cause of his death, Amarin TV said this evening.
Upon being alerted of the naked body of a tourist found lying face down on the beach opposite Soi 3, Beach road, Pol. Lt. Col. Anand Mahakit-aswakul, deputy inspector at Pattaya City police station, rushed there with Sawang Boriboon rescuers.
At the scene, tourists and local people were standing around looking at the body of the fair-skinned young man who had a flower tattoo on his left arm and a bird tattoo on his right arm. He was only wearing a pair of black shoes while a pair of black shorts had washed up nearby.
An examination of the body found no signs of abuse with there being no indication where he came from. Initially police assumed that he had been dead for five hours.
Mr. Khacharin Chuchum, a Pattaya special affairs officer, said he was checking this beach when an umbrella and day-bed rental operator told him that he found a tourist who had drowned and lying face down nearby.
He rushed to help but as he had already died, he stopped people from getting close and quickly called the police.
Rescuers have taken his body to Bang Lamung Hospital, and from there to be sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at Police Hospital for an autopsy.
Police are investigating who he is, where he came from and where he was staying before he died.
