Majority satisfied with Bangkok Governor Chadchart: NIDA Poll

 

MOST Bangkokians are satisfied with the performance of elected Governor Chadchart Sittipunt at midpoint of a four-year term, a new NIDA Poll shows, according to Naewna newspaper today (June 2).

This poll, conducted during May 16-27, 2024 with 2,000 people aged 18 and above who have a right to vote in Bangkok, are from all levels of education, come from various occupations and income brackets as well as covering all 50 districts, found that 50.25% were somewhat satisfied with his work, 20.35%  were not that satisfied, 18.45% were very satisfied, 10.60% were not at all satisfied, while 0.35% said they did not want to answer or did not care.

When asked about voting for Chadchart as Bangkok governor should an election take place today, 40.75% said they would choose him, 34.50% were uncertain, 21.35% said they would not choose him, while 0.40% refused to answer.

Answers to some of the questions in the poll are as follows:

– Promotion of tourism in Bangkok: 43.05% said this is quite good, 21.30% not that good, 20.15% very good, 8.20% not good at all while 7.30% had no information on this subject.

– Improving and organising sidewalks, such as preventing hawkers from setting up stalls and shops and drivers from parking there: 46.60% said this is quite good, 21.30% not that good, 19.35% very good, 11.60% not good at all while 1.15% had no information.

– Solving the problem of cleanliness including garbage, dust and waste water: 44.30% said this is quite good, 25.40% not that good, 17.15% very good, 12.25% not good at all while 0.90% did not have information.

– Solving flood problems: 37.00% said this is quite good, 29.05% not that good, 16.00% not good at all, 13.95% very good, while 4.00% said they did not have any information.

– Solving corruption in Bangkok Metropolitan Administration agencies: 30.95% said this is quite good, 27.35% not that good, 18.35% not good at all, 12.85% said they did not have any information while 10.50% said very good.

– Solving traffic and congestion problems: 37.30% said quite good, 34.40% not that good, 17.60% not good at all, 9.00% very good while 1.70% had no information.
