THE HUGE fire that engulfed two pyrolysis gasoline tanks in Rayong has now spread to a third one causing it to explode with firefighters and officials fighting to prevent it from spreading to a fourth tank, Amarin TV said this afternoon (May 9).
Authorities battling to control this big blaze at Map Ta Phut Tank Terminal Co. Ltd. complex within Map Ta Phut port, Mueang district, were forced to declare a level 2 emergency with people in the area evacuated after the flames spread to the second tank
At 3.30 p.m. the firefighters found that a third tank containing pyrolysis gasoline had exploded and they then started working to prevent it from spreading to a fourth one
As thick black smoke billowed toward Map Ta Phut and Huai Pong subdisticts those alerted to evacuate were told to quickly do so with further evacuation possible.
