Ex-deputy House speaker found guilty of illegally occupying forest land

By Thai Newsroom Reporters

FORMER DEPUTY HOUSE Speaker Supachai Bhosu has been found guilty of illegally occupying forest land in Nakhon Phanom, officially considered tantamount to a severe breach of the politicians’ code of ethics.

National Anti-Corruption Commission Secretary-General Niwatchai Kasemmongkol said today (Apr. 25) Supachai had falsely claimed to hold Nor Sor 2 paper for use with the illegal occupation of 220 rai of Dong Patai forest land which he had turned into rubber plantations in Tha Uthane district of his northeastern home province since the last few decades.

Supachai had not only illegally occupied the forest land for himself but thwarted local villagers from doing so as well, albeit in legal fashion.

The NACC charges concluded against Supachai on grounds of severe violation of the politicians’ code of ethics will be forwarded to the Supreme Court for legal penalty.

The former deputy House speaker/former deputy agriculture & cooperatives minister/former MP of Nakhon Phanom had contested in vain under the tickets of the Bhumjaithai steered by de facto party boss Newin Chidchob in last year’s general election.
