By Thai Newsroom Reporters

MOVE FORWARD MP CHAITHAWAT Tulathon was today (Sep.23) named a new leader of the largest opposition party whilst Move Forward MP Apichart Sirisuntorn was named secretary-general of the party.

Partisan members attending today’s extraordinary caucus voted 330:5 to land Chaithawat who had earlier performed as Move Forward secretary-general the top partisan leadership in place of Pita Limjaroenrat who had earlier resigned.

Pita who has been ordered by court to stop performing his MP duties for the time being has resigned to not only give way for the naming of Chaithawat as Move Forward leader but opposition leader in concurrent fashion at parliament.

Nevertheless, Chaithawat said he will definitely step down as Move Forward leader immediately after the duty suspension on Pita has been lifted by court, thus prompting another extraordinary caucus to bring the latter back as party leader again.

Other Move Forward MPs and partisan members were also named members of the party’s new executive board including Move Forward MP Parit Wacharasindhu as party spokesperson.
