A WOMAN and her new husband who had tortured one toddler to death and seriously injured the other were given life in jail today (Aug. 30), Amarin TV said.
The small boy, Phi Phi, was just two years and one month old when he died on May 26, 2022, after being severely tortured while her sister, Chao Kha, was badly injured on August 1, 2022 when she was just three years and four months old.
Ms. Natthornwit Na Pattani, 27, the biological mother of the two children, and Mr. Tinnakorn Kamonsilp, 29, the stepfather, were charged with murder by torture and brutality and attempted murder with their death sentence being commuted to life imprisonment after confession.
In Chao Kha’s case there was a rape charge as well.
Mr. Nattapon Thongduang, the children’s biological father, said he accepted the verdict with the court pointing out that if both of them were executed, who would pay the damages.
He added that he did not know how long life imprisonment is but while the court had given them a chance he would never forgive them.
However he asked them to change and try to be accepted by society and let the people then decide whether they should be in their midst.
The children had previously been living with Nattaphon and his mother Mrs. Anan Macharoensri, 64, in Chonburi but their mother came and took the two of them to live with her and her new husband in Nonthaburi.
