NEARLY 200,000 VOTERS FAILED to go to the polls outside their designated constituencies during yesterday’s (May 7) advance polling, reported the Election Commission today.

Over 2.22 million eligible voters had earlier registered to cast their votes in advance polling outside their constituencies in Thailand and other countries worldwide but about 191,000 of them failed to make it, according to the Election Commission’s report.

The total of the advance voters who went to the polls outside their constituencies accounted for 91% of those who had registered, the polling agency’s report says.

Meanwhile, about 3,400 voters failed to go to the polls in their designated constituencies during yesterday’s advance polling.

Over 60,000 voters had earlier registered as advance voters in their constituencies but only about 57,000 of them went to the polls yesterday.

The total of the advance voters who cast their votes in their constituencies accounted for 94% of those who had registered, the report says.
