THE PHEU THAI today (Apr.7) pledged to send professional soccer players for training with an English Premier League team if the party becomes the government after the May 14 general election.
Pimol Srivikorn, head of the Pheu Thai sport policy campaign, confirmed that selected professional soccer players will be given a training course with Fulham in London within 100 days after the party has taken the helm.
Fulham, owned by Pakistani/American billionaire tycoon Shihad Khan, is one of the 20 English Premier League teams.
Meanwhile, the Pheu Thai, if given the chance to run the country, will manage to have the Sports Authority of Thailand broadcast major world soccer matches live on state TV channels, Facebook and Youtube, Pimol said.
Not only professional and national team players but young ones in varied age groups will be promoted to turn professional and go international, he said.
The so-called Street Soccer campaign launched in the time of a Thai Rak Thai era about two decades earlier will be reintroduced to hone talents of young soccer players in all parts of the country, he said.
