BANGKOK Governor Chadchat Sittipunt today (June 24) signed an ordinance permitting public gatherings at seven places across the capital conditional upon public safety and national security not being affected, Naewna newspaper said.
Participants are also expected to maintain orderliness and hygiene standards and not affect the rights and liberties of others.
The seven spots where public rallies are now allowed are as follows:
1) Lan Khon Mueang Town Square, Phra Nakhon district;
2) Bangkok Youth Centre (Thai-Japanese), Din Daeng district;
3) Public places under Ratchavipha Bridge (near Soi Vibhavadi Rangsit 36), Chatuchak district;
4) Parking lot in front of Phra Khanong district office, Phra Khanong district;
5) 72nd Anniversary Min Buri Stadium , Min Buri district;
6) 72nd Anniversary Stadium (Bang Mod) or Chalerm Phrakiat Bang Mod Stadium, Thung Khru district;
7) Monthon Phirom Park, Taling Chan district.
Organisers of these public gatherings have to notify the district office not less than 24 hours prior to the event to allow for adequate time for preparation.
They can either inform the district office directly or send a fax and immediately call the district office to ensure the documents have reached and are correct, or by e-mail but there is an appropriate format to do the latter.
