DESPITE Lazada Thailand Company having publicly apologised over a promotional video clip criticised for referring to the monarchy, royalists showed up at the eCommerce platform’s office on Sukhumvit Road to demand a more serious apology, Naewna newspaper said this afternoon (May 6).
This promotional video clip was produced by Mr. Anivat Prathumthin, or Nara Crepe Kratoey, a popular net idol and had attracted a lot of comments from activist groups.
Mr. Noppadon Phromphasit, head of Thailand Help Centre for Cyberbullying Victims, and members of the Centre of the People Protecting the Monarchy came to Lazada’s office at Bhiraj Tower, Sukhumvit Road, to file a complaint with the executives and marketing department of this company.
At 2 p.m. a Lazada representative came down to receive the letter but the protesters said this person does not hold a senior position in the company and someone with authority should come down to meet them.
By 2.30 p.m. when none of Lazada’s executives showed up, the royalists torn up the complaint and said they would now fully support its competitors such as Shopee and also wage a social media war against it,
This evening they plan to hold a ritual cursing ceremony against the company.
