A 17-YEAR-OLD teenager who was chased and shot at by a rival gang of teenagers on Rama 2 road died after crashing his motorcycle on a power pole before dawn today (Mar. 19), Matichon newspapwer.
At 4.45 a.m. Pol.Lt. Col. Apichai Sisang, deputy chief of Tha Kham station, rushed to the scene of the shooting in Bang Khun Thian district together with a forensic doctor from Siriraj Hospital and Por Teck Tung Foundation rescuers.
At the scene they found Mr. Phuwanat (surname withheld), 17, shot in the back and lying dead near the power pole he had slammed his motorcycle onto while about 10 metres away was Mr. Pathawee (surname withheld), 17, with a broken leg waiting for help.
Before being taken to Samut Sakhon Hospital the injured teenager told police he was the pillon passenger on the motorbike. He had met his friend in the Bangpakok 8 Hospital area and was persuaded by him to go along to deliver a parcel at Phiman Village.
As they were heading for the outbound side of Rama 2 road they ran into a gang of teenagers riding around 10 motorcycles who chased them and tried to attack them with knives and screwdrivers. His friend zoomed ahead but lost his balance and hit the power pole causing him to fall off while he skidded more than 10 metres before dying at the scene.
After that their attackers fled.
Police investigators are continuing to interrogate the injured teen and other witnesses while tracing the teen gang’s escape route through surveillance camera clips.
