BANGKOK Metropolitan Authority (BMA) issued an order permitting the consumption of alcohol at events, meetings and seminars held in SHA Plus venues till 11 p.m. starting today (Mar. 15), Sanook.com said.
Bangkok Governor Pol Gen Aswin Kwanmuang last evening signed this order easing Covid control in the capital so that economic and social activities could be carried out.
However hotels, exhibition centres, department stores, shopping centres and community malls holding such events in their meeting rooms, banquet halls or similar facilities must comply with Covid safety measures.
The governor underscored that consumption of alcohol till 11 p.m. will only be allowed under the guidelines of the Public Health Ministry and the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau at places that have obtained Safety and Health Administration (SHA) Plus certificate.
Meanwhile the Public Health Ministry said this morning that there were 19,742 Covid cases and 70 deaths over the past 24 hours taking the cumulative confirmed total since Jan. 1 to 1,003,262 and since the start of the pandemic 3,206,955.
Another 24,125 patients were cured taking total recoveries since Jan. 1 to 812,919 while 221,436 are still undergoing treatment.
Today’s 70 fatalities raised the death toll to 23,848.
