DURING the heavy rain this morning (Jan. 22) two buses collided at a bus stop near Kluay Nam Thai intersection on Rama 4 road outbound to Phra Khanong leaving nine passengers in one of them and one in the other injured, Thai Rath newspaper said.
The crash between air-conditioned bus number 22, running between Sathupradit and Happyland, and bus number 45, running between Samrong and Si Phraya, occurred at the bus stop in front of a convenience store just 300 metres from this intersection.
The rear of the blue and white bus number 22 was damaged in the collision while the front of the cream and red bus number 45 too was smashed with the glass windshield having broken completely.
Volunteer staff from the Ruam Katanyu Foundation help take all 10 injured passengers to Theptarin Hospital.
Mr. Soonthorn Kaewnimit, 35, the driver of bus number 45, said it was raining heavily when the accident occurred on the flooded and slippery road.
The driver of bus number 22 had stopped at the bus stop on the left to drop off passengers but as none of his passengers wanted to get off here he tried to overtake by turning right but there was a pickup truck on that lane forcing him to quickly brake after which he lost control of the vehicle which slammed into the other bus.
