Burnt and collapsed house’s papers in order

THE owners of the three-storey house that collapsed while ablaze over the weekend had correctly obtained permits to both construction and make additional modification after completion, Sanook.com quoted Ejan as saying today (April 5)

Mr Narong Rakkid, acting head of Thawi Wattana district’s Public Works and Town & Country Planning Office, said the owners had applied to construct the house in 2010 and the construction, which was properly controlled by an engineer, was completed in 2011.

Additional modification was applied for and this completed in 2012 with altogether 600 square metres being built.

He added that he could not as yet confirm whether the heat caused the structure to collapse. The Engineering Institute of Thailand under His Majesty the King’s Patronage will be taking concrete blocks from the rubble to check for heat resistance.

However this could not be done as yet as police had to first complete their investigation.

The family of Mr. Kiat Patterson, or Tommy, the deceased resident, have taken his body for a religious ceremony at Wat Tha Phood, Samphran district, Nakhon Pathom province.

The families of three of four volunteer firefighters also performed religious ceremonies at the fire-gutted and collapsed house according to their beliefs.
