Protesters block off Govt House, staying there tonight

THE People’s Party demonstrators reached Government House at 6.10 p.m. and settled there for the night after taking over the stretch of Phitsanulok Road in front it while periodically shouting “Out Big Tu” (Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha’s nickname is Tu and he often referred to as Big Tu or Uncle Tu), Thai Rath Newspaper reported this evening (Oct. 14, 2020).

The movement’s key leaders, lawyer Anon Nampa, Ms. Panusaya Sitthichirawattanakul, or Rung, and Mr. Parit Chivarak, or Penguin, told police from their mobile stage to stay out of Phitsanulok road stretch in front of Government House.

They also told the protesters to switch on their phone flashlight to show that they have succeeded in taking over Government House.

The People’s Party protesters later turned left at the Suan Miskawaan intersection to mount an L-shaped blockade of Government House.

It took them four hours and passing through four barriers to achieve their objective today after leaving Democracy Monument at 2.30 p.m.

However, it was reported that protesters would camp outside Government House for one night and urged the authorities not to break up their gathering and they in turn would not break into the premises.

Speeches are continuing on amending the constitution and for Gen. Prayut to step down.
