HUNDREDS OF FAKE handbags bearing world-famous brands were seized today (June 4) at a border market in Sa Kaeo province.
Customs officials and police raided a shophouse in Rong Klua market in Aranyaprathet district across the border from Poi Pet township in Cambodia and seized 1,675 fake handbags with world-renowned brands such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Chanel.
Three males, believed to have smuggled these fashionable items across the border from inside Cambodia, managed to escape shortly before the authorities arrived.
The pirated goods which could have sold for a combined price of about 20 million baht were believed to have been ordered by Cambodian vendors at the border market, officials said.
Nobody was found at the shophouse where the contraband was found.
