PEOPLE’S MP Parit Wacharasindhu has launched sarcasm over alleged, hush-hush connections between election commissioners and de facto Bhumjaithai boss Newin Chidchob pertaining to the polling agency’s questionable investigation into electoral irregularities.
During second and third readings of the 2027 budget legislation in the House of Representatives, Parit made a sarcastic remark at the election commissioners, who were allegedly responsive, albeit in covert, surreptitious manner, to the de facto Bhumjaithai boss, in regard to their request for 2.7 billion baht in next fiscal year’s funding for their investigative operations into varied, electoral wrongdoing scandals and called in vain for fellow lawmakers to completely reject it because, he said, they would hardly need it in the first place.
“They would not need as much as 2.7 billion baht in funding for their dutiful investigation anymore. Just give them some money to cover their cell phone calls to Buriram,” Parit said in reference to Newin’s lower-northeastern home province and the largest stronghold of the Bhumjaithai, core of the current coalition government.
The People’s MP/chief opposition whip cast doubts that the commissioners would file a lawsuit in the Supreme Court on the upcoming Monday against any of the total 229 suspects in the senatorial rigging conspiracy of 2024 including 138 out of the total 200 senators and 91 politically-attached and associated persons.
The latter refers to 21 Bhumjaithai members of cabinet, lawmakers and executive board members including Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakui as party leader plus Newin as de facto party boss.
The 3.78 trillion baht budget bill has passed final House approval, given majority support from the Bhumjaithai-led coalition MPs plus yea votes from the Klatham MPs despite their being formally part of the opposition bloc.
The Klatham lawmakers are led by the maverick Thammanat Prompao who has been desperately looking to jump onto the Bhumjaithai bandwagon of government at any given time.
