Late MP’s son-in-law wins Udon Thani by-election

 

UNOFFICIAL result of a by-election held in Udon Thani Constituency 3 today (Aug. 30) with 95 percent of the votes counted shows Mr. Athikarn Kaewkruesri, son-in-law of late MP Rang Thuraphol from the Bhumjaithai Party, is the clear winner having got 36,097 of the votes, Naewna newspaper and PPTVHD36 said.

There were 125,309 eligible voters in Constituency 3 of this upper northeastern province covering Phen, Saeng Khom, and Mueang districts.

As of 8 p.m. with votes at 228 out of 240 polling stations counted, comprising 95 percent, the unofficial result is as follows:

– Mr. Athikarn Kaewkruesri, Bhumjaithai Party, 36,097 votes;

– Mr. Khajit Chainikom, New Democracy Party, 12,323 votes;

– Mr. Khamphan Chantharajon, Party for the Country, 4,350 votes.
