KLATHAM MP CHONNAPAT Naksua, currently suspected of involvement in online gambling activity, was recently seen bragging about himself being named minister in a post-election government only if he managed to exonerate himself from such rogue scandals.
People’s MP Pukkamon Nunarnan today (Nov.15) posted on her Facebook page a video clip showing the elected lawmaker of the current coalition partner Klatham visiting some villagers in Songkhla, spontaneously telling them that he would be named member of a future cabinet if he managed to clear himself of the allegations that he had been involved in online gambling and money-laundering activities based in the southern region.
The People’s MP remarked that the Klatham MP’s boastful prediction of himself rising to ministerial status in foreseeable future was publicly made as if he had taken a self-proclaimed monopoly over Songkhla’s Constituency 4 where he currently represents at parliament.
Chonnapat was among a few MPs of varied parties who have been suspected of involvement in online gambling and money-laundering activities and literally having bought their ways to the House of Representatives with the ill-gotten money.
The Klatham MP, viewed as closely connected with Deputy Prime Minister-cum-Agriculture & Cooperatives Minister/de facto Klatham boss Thammanat Prompao, would almost certainly seek re-election in the southern constituency in an upcoming election.
The other suspected lawmakers, namely Democrat MP Somyot Plaiduang of Songkhla and Pheu Thai MP Palakorn Pimpanit of Kalasin, have also been allegedly involved in similar, illegal activities in their respective constituencies.
However, Thammanat has earlier categorically dismissed allegations that he had been covertly connected with any suspected scammers or money-launderers including those based in Cambodia though he had been allegedly associated with notorious wheeler-dealer Benjamin Mauerberger, alias Ben Smith, who did not only reportedly act as business adviser to senior Cambodian leader Hun Sen but to de facto Pheu Thai boss/inmate Thaksin Shinawatra and himself.
In another development, Thai Sang Thai leader Sudarat Keyurapan joined today’s partisan electoral campaign in northeastern constituencies of Nong Bualampu, pledging to fight payoffs and graft in bureaucratic and political circles especially those involving scam and money-laundering rackets within a six-month period if her splinter camp eventually joined a post-election government.
However, five of the total six MPs of Sudarat’s camp, formally being part of the opposition bloc, have practically renegaded to side with the Bhumjaithai, core of the current coalition government under de facto party boss Newin Chidchob.
Four renegade Thai Sang Thai MPs currently represent northeastern constituencies of Udorn Thani, Ubon Ratchathani and Yasothorn in addition to one party-listed MP/de facto partisan financier Thakorn Tanthasit, leaving the sole Thai Sang Thai MP of Roi Et still loyal to the party leader.
