PRIME MINISTER Paetongtarn Shinawatra said today (Apr. 8) that four educational institutions will be collaborating with the Department of Public Works & Town and Country Planning in creating a virtual model of the State Audit building that collapsed during March 28 earthquake to pinpoint the cause with the result expected in 90 days, Thai Rath newspaper said.
She also said no one is lobbying for the transfer of Industry Minister Akanat Promphan.
Reporters had questioned her about this because a masked man had threatened to remove the Industry Minister from his position if he ordered an investigation of a steel factory.
“Who would remove the Minister of Industry? If someone threatens, it may not be in accordance with the law and authority,” she said.
Paetongtarn also said that there will be a review of the entire building inspection process for both private and government buildings.
She mentioned that she had previously built private buildings and knows there are many things to inspect.
Most of Paetongtarn’s professional experience from 2011 until entering politics has been with the Shinawatra family’s business empire, including SC Asset Plc, a leading real estate developer, plus businesses in hospitality, and telecommunications sectors.
Building inspection has to be suitable for the current situation and it has to be determined whether any additions were needed especially on withstanding earthquakes, she said.
There also should not be lots of processes that are not beneficial, she added.
