PRIME MINISTER PAETONGTARN Shinawatra has become the sole target of a censure motion due no later than the second week of next month, given allegations that she is virtually merely a “puppet” pulled by her father/de facto Pheu Thai boss Thaksin Shinawatra.
The censure motion was today (Feb.27) lodged by MP Nattapong Ruangpanyawut, leader of the People’s, the largest opposition party, to House Speaker Wan Muhammad Noor Matha who will be constitutionally obliged to hold censure debate against the woman prime minister within a two-week time from now.
According to the censure motion endorsed by 166 opposition MPs, Paetongtarn has been alleged of performing without qualification, competence or leadership as head of government and of virtually acting as a “puppet prime minister” pulled around by her father who, it says, will not be legally bound to take responsibility on behalf of the Pheu Thai-led coalition government.
That Paetongtarn is allegedly considered unqualified, incompetent and unsuitable whilst merely performing as a “puppet” under influence of the billionaire de facto Pheu Thai boss could probably cause undue, colossal damage to the country as a whole, according to the censure motion.
It remains to be seen on what date of next month the House speaker will hold the censure debate and how many days it will last in a row.
All MPs will be obliged to either cast yea or nay votes to manifest their confidence or no confidence in the “puppet” prime minister or abstain from voting the next day after the usual marathon debate has ended.
Last August, Paetongtarn who concurrently acts as leader of the Pheu Thai, core of the current coalition government, was named head of government with an overwhelming support from Pheu Thai-led lawmakers after her predecessor Srettha Thavisin had been impeached by the Constitutional Court on grounds of severely breaching the code of politicians’ ethics, thus being immediately deprived of his prime-ministerial status. Srettha was personally associated with Thaksin’s fugitive sister/former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra.
