Motorcyclist dies after being chased by sedan down Sukhumvit road

 

AN ANGRY Indian man chased a motorcyclist down Sukhumvit road with this leading to the latter crashing against a power pole in front of Soi 10 and dying on the spot, Thai police said.

Por Tek Tung Foundation rescuers rushed to the scene of the accident but found the approximately 49-year-old man lying dead beside the power he had hit.

An eyewitness told police that the Indian man driving the sedan chased the motorcyclist from Asoke intersection until he crashed into the power pole in front of Sukhumvit Soi 10 after which he fled.

However police have apprehended the Indian suspect and are now questioning him while the dead motorcyclist’s body was taken to the hospital for autopsy.

Another motorcyclist, Mr. Kittiphum (surname withheld), 48, who saw the incident, said the sedan was parked in the right lane and the two of them were arguing over likely a collision, TV Channel 7 said.

Despite the motorcyclist standing in front of the sedan, the driver tried to manoeuvre and get away which led to the former hitting the vehicle. The sedan driver then got out and attacked the motorcyclist who got on his motorbike and rode on.

The sedan driver chased him and hit him from the right to the left lane causing him to fly and hit the power pole then dying.

Ms. Saijai, 39, the motorcyclist’s wife said they had been married for over 24 years and had four children who were all studying. The eldest has just finished high school and was about to enter university and her husband was rushing to raise money to pay the children’s tuition fees.

She added that she does not know what to do after losing her husband because he was the family’s sole breadwinner,
