A WELL-KNOWN influencer has been ordered by court to an initial 12-day detention in the death of another influencer/rapper who was known to have been often paid to be bullied with the latest incident in which he was offered 30,000 baht to gulp down a lot of alcohol in one go leading to him collapsing and dying, Naewna newspaper said today (Dec. 28).
Placed behind bars was Mr. Ekkachart “M” Meeprom, 32, on charges of inciting Mr. Thanakhan Kanthi, or Bank Lester, 27, who was mentally disabled and had shot to fame for selling garlands to feed his grandmother, to gulp down 350ml bottles of alcohol for payment of 10,000 baht per bottle at a party in Chanthaburi on Christmas evening.
Bank Lester gulped down two of these bottles in succession within 10-20 minutes and then lost consciousness. He was rushed to the hospital but his heart had already stopped beating when he reached and the doctors were unable to save his life.
The party was held by Ekkachart’s mother Ms. Supranee Phoolkasi to celebrate her birthday and the opening of a farm products shop with a lot of people showing up and one of them was Bank Lester.
The suspect faces charges of recklessness leading to the death of another person under Section 49, Paragraph 4,249 of the Criminal Code, with the penalty being up to 10 years imprisonment and a fine of up to 20,000 baht.
His relatives filed a petition to bail him out but the court denied this on grounds that this case carries a high penalty and the circumstances are serious.
Another suspect, only identified as Bird Wan Wang Wang, who was alleged to have been involved in Bank Lester’s death but denied this, was arrested at his house in Pathum Thani by a team of Technology Crime Suppression Police after they found an obscene video clip featuring Bank Lester circulating online.
