LEICESTER CITY are roughly standing 50:50 chances of surviving in the Premier League at the end of current season, given the incredibly poor performance of the Foxes players so far, according to news reports.
The Foxes have already conceded as many as 37 goals in their 17 League games so far with 21 more matches to play until the end of 2024/2025 season and it is now up to anyone’s guess as to whether the Thai-owned football club will roughly survive in the Premier League or be relegated again to the Championship, the second tier of the English football system.
The Foxes have flagrantly failed to fare satisfactorily in the eye of their disgruntled fans and supporters with only three wins, five draws and nine defeats since the start of current season, precariously ranking at 17th on the Premier League table with just two points above today’s relegation zone.
Anticipation at King Power stadium has gradually escalated to see Leicester’s Thai owner Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha providing sizable funding for the likely signing of quality players to help out the Foxes as one of the 20 top-flight teams.
Their historic celebrations for winning the Premier League champion title at the end of 2015/2016 season notwithstanding, Leicester are most certainly bound to struggle harder than ever to steer themselves away from relegation to the Championship from where they had been promoted last season.
Currently striving in the relegation zone are Wolves, Ipswich and Southampton with the latter two having just been promoted from the second tier as well.
Former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy who has been named Leicester manager, replacing the sacked Steve Cooper, has been undoubtedly tasked with all-out survival effort, beginning with the anticipated signing of a high-caliber striker in addition to the likes of Foxes captain Jamie Vardy, Facundo Buonanotte and Jordan Ayew, plus one central-back defender or two as soon as the January transfer market opens.
Given a Boxing Day match tonight, Leicester who are playing Liverpool would simply do their best to collect one point in a far-fetched draw at Anfield despite overwhelming odds of the Foxes continuing to lick wounds in their 10th defeat.
