DE FACTO PHEU THAI BOSS Thaksin Shinawatra today (Dec. 23) categorically denied that his party, core of the current coalition government, had developed a critical conflict with Bhumjaithai, the second largest coalition partner.
The billionaire power player said he had had no problem to clear up with Deputy Prime Minister-cum-Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul who concurrently acts as leader of Bhumjaithai under de facto party boss Newin Chidchob.
Thaksin was responding to criticism that he and Anutin were merely trying to bury the hatchet by playing golf together after Pheu Thai had apparently locked horns with Newin’s camp over legislation to formulate a public referendum in pursuit of the green light from constituents nationwide for long-delayed constitution amendment bid, among other policy matters.
Thaksin remarked that he merely viewed Anutin as a friend whom, he said, he has personally known since the last couple of decades and contended that working relationship between his daughter-turned-Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra and the Bhumjaithai leader have been so far cordial and smooth.
The de facto Pheu Thai boss said Gulf Energy Development CEO Sarath Ratanavadi had invited him and the Bhumjaithai leader for a special round of golf at a Pathum Thani golf course yesterday. PTT CEO Kongkrapan Intarajang also joined them in the “friendly” golf game.
Last October, Newin and Anutin held a tete-a-tete talk with Thaksin at the latter’s house but the alleged mutual conflict between the coalition partners has been yet unsolved.
