Popular Russian DJ arrested on Koh Phangan for injuring motorcyclist in traffic accident

 

A WELL-KNOWN Russian DJ was arrested on Koh Phangan yesterday (July 5) on charges of seriously injuring a motorcyclist in a traffic accident on Koh Samui last year, Naewna newspaper said this morning.

Pol. Gen. Saksira Phuek-am, chief of Tourist Police Bureau, ordered his team on Koh Phangan to arrested Mr. Vigen Atoyan, 36, who is a top Russian music performer and goes by the name DJ Vigen, according to an arrest warrant issued by Koh Samui Provincial Court on July 30, 2023.

Upon being apprehended on charges of “reckless driving seriously harming others and damaging other people’s property” at a room in Ban Tai subdistrict of Koh Phangan, the Russian DJ was taken to the Tourist Police office on the island then sent to the police station there for further legal action.

Having travelled all over Thailand and regularly returns here to work, he had again flown back four days ago to perform at an upcoming party on Koh Phangan.

With followers on both Instagram and Telegram online platforms, he is very popular among Russians holidaying and staying in Thailand and has worked at many Thai tourist cities and islands.

According to the arrest warrant, the Russian DJ was driving a white SUV on Koh Samui when he lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a motorcyclist coming in the opposite direction, seriously injuring him and damaging both vehicles.
