THE OFFICE OF THE ATTORNEY-GENERAL today (Apr. 10) postponed a decision till late next month as to whether to forward a lese majeste lawsuit against de facto Pheu Thai boss-cum-convict on parole Thaksin Shinawatra.
In today’s press conference, OAG spokesperson Prayut Petchkhun said whether or not the agency may finally prosecute the deposed prime minister/de facto Pheu Thai boss in the lese majeste case in court will be known on May 29.
There would be no further postponement beyond May 29, according to the OAG spokesperson, saying the sustained delay had been primarily attributed to lack of additional evidence otherwise compiled by police investigators.
Thaksin had allegedly breached the draconian lese majeste law, given his interview with a South Korean news agency in Seoul in 2015, marking the first anniversary of the coup staged by army chief-turned-prime minister Prayut Chan-o-cha in which his sister/former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra had been deposed.
The de facto Pheu boss’s verbal comments made during his interview had had content allegedly tantamount to offending the monarchy, albeit in tacit manner.
