Certain officials could possibly be charged with misconduct over Thaksin case

CERTAIN GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS ranging from hospital doctors and the head of the Corrections Department to Justice Minister Tawee Sodsong could possibly be hit with legal action on misconduct charges over their contentious handling of de facto Pheu Thai boss-cum-convict on parole Thaksin Shinawatra.

According to Move Forward MP Rangsiman Rome, certain doctors in charge of treating Thaksin at Police Hospital, Corrections Department director-general Sahakarn Petchnarin and the Prachachart-attached justice minister could possibly be charged with perpetrating misconduct and power abuse, given their alleged failure to conclude that the de facto Pheu Thai boss had not been “critically ill” as earlier repeatedly claimed by themselves.

Instagram pictures recently posted by Thaksin’s daughter/Pheu Thai leader Paetongtarn Shinawatra featuring the de facto Pheu Thai boss-cum-convict on parole joyously playing in a swimming pool with his grandchildren obviously manifested the fact that he had been by no means “critically ill” as earlier falsely claimed, according to the opposition lawmaker.

Tawee categorically dismissed sustained allegations that the authorities, especially the Corrections Department under care of the Ministry of Justice, had used legal loopholes in favour of the de facto Pheu Thai boss-cum-convict on parole and maintained that the deposed prime minister had been “critically ill” as earlier officially reported by the Police Hospital doctors and department officials.

But Rangisman contended that the questionable handling of Thaksin by the relevant authorities in a six-month period until he was granted parole last February apparently manifested a double-standard practice unduly granted for the de facto Pheu Thai boss, albeit unprovided for ordinary convicts.

Upon his parole, Thaksin had been seen with soft splints around his neck and right arm which he intermittently put on and off whilst the Instagram pictures show him in the swimming pool lifting a foam dumbbell which was excused as sort of a tool for physical treatment of his “damaged” tendons.

Thaksin was invariably accused by his critics of feigning “illnesses” and playing a pivotal part in the country’s power play since he returned from self-exile abroad last August without spending a single day behind bars to otherwise serve a curtailed, one-year jail sentence on court-verdicted misconduct counts.

Instead the de facto Pheu Thai boss had been allegedly given double-standard privileges of a private ward at Police Hospital where he literally directed the jaw-dropping setup of a Pheu Thai-led government and allocated cabinet portfolios among coalition partners via his right-hand mand Phumtham Wechayachai.

Though Phumtham, the Pheu Thai wheeler/dealer-turned-deputy prime minister-cum-commerce minister, insisted that only the Pheu Thai-backed Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin will ultimately be the only lawful figure to reshuffle his cabinet of ministers at any time, not only the Pheu Thai MPs but those of all coalition partners have been well aware of Thaksin’s behind-the-scenes, decisive power over their own political future.

Srettha, quietly promoted as a real estate tycoon-turned-prime minister by Thaksin’s sister/deposed prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra, was invariably alleged of virtually performing as “a puppet” pulled around by the de facto Pheu Thai boss.
