2024 budget bill sails through House

By Thai Newsroom Reporters

THE BELATED BUDGET BILL sailed through the House of Representatives after three days of floor debate today (Mar 22).

A total of 298 Pheu Thai-led government MPs voted for the 2024 budget bill, compared to a total of 166 Move Forward-led opposition MPs who voted against it.

However, a dozen government MPs evidently failed to attend the House meeting at the time of the final votes on the budget bill being cast by their colleagues.

The 3.48 trillion baht budget registers a 9.3% increase from a previous one and carries a 70 billion baht deficit, given the government’s predicted revenue of 2.78 trillion baht throughout the current fiscal year which should have started as of last October.
